If you want to build something, make something, design something, or use something then there's probably a law governing just how you do it

The trick is knowing exactly what you can and can't do
Often building something that's going to add to, change or interact with a building needs local authority permission covering not only whether you can build it but sometimes how too. Equally, if you want to make something using chemicals then again you need to make sure that:
a) You're Safe
b) Your surroundings - people and the environment, are safe.
